Pop-Top Purse

While on vacation in Puerto Rico, earlier this month, I went to an international craft fair in downtown San Juan.  I could not resist this purse.  The woman who made it sold it to me herself. She explained that it took 3 weeks to crochet the soda pop tops into a pattern.  The result is a magnificent, one of a kind work of art!  I love mixing unexpected materials! Let this purse inspire you!

BUY BUY Betsey- GOING OUT OF BUSINESS SALE!

Betsey Johnson stores are closing. Yup, all of 'em.  Betsey is moving on to greener pastures.  She is going to have a reality show with her daughter, Lulu.  She will still sell her licensed merchandise (accessories, hosiery, etc), and  may even do runway collections, but stores will almost all close.

That means, its TIME TO BUY CLOTHES!

Met Costume Gala- where A-listers and designers show off

Once a year, fashion designers parade their muses and most provocative work at the red carpet of the Metropolitan Museum's yearly Costume Institute Gala.

There were over 150 photos on Style.com.  Here are my favorite looks:

Carey Mulligan, in Prada, proves that you can't go wrong with metallic fish scales.

 

Only Florence Welch would be able to pull of this Alexander McQueen ensemble. 

 

Love  Thakoon Panichgual's dress for Christina Ricci. The contrast between the lace, the layers, and the asymmetrical volume is really a treat for the eyes.

Jason Wu's sheer with lace with more sheer is like a savvy mirage that I want to be a part of. 

 Jessica Stam looks regal and ravishing in Dior. The heavily constructed armor-like top contrasts nicely with the flowing mermaid skirt.

Ginnifer is a tangerine siren in this Monique Lhuillier gown.

Emma Roberts sweetheart Escada and cute little belt really amps up the wattage with its orange-yellow hue.

Kristin Bell is peachy keen in this wispy Tommy Hilfiger number.

Sample Sale Season!

Time Out NY says its sample sale week! Sample sales are a great way to buy awesome clothes at discount prices.  Best part is, the merchandise is usually still in season, and most of the time, in pretty good quality.  There is a whole list on Time Out NY website, but here are 2 that I need to check out!

Tieks- Flats you can fold!

My Chicago friends referred me to Tieks.com, an addictive site where you can buy candy-colored leather flats that have a cute turquoise bottom!  They come in an array of colors for work and/or play.

The flats get mailed to you in a beautiful teal box with a glittery flower on top.  Also, you get a hand-written thank you note. I feel so special!
