GRAST NY- Fresh Graphic Tee Store in the 42nd St Subway!

Normally, by the time I troll through the bowels of the NYC subway system on my way home from work, all of the "storefronts" are closed.  Usually, I do not care, as most of those clothes seem like something you buy when you either need a quick disguise change or you have puked on your clothes and need a cheap replacement.

Imagine my surprise, then, when I chanced upon GRAST NY, a graphic tee shop with fresh product and fair prices.  This little gem is located in the 42nd St subway station near the entrance to the Port Authority and A C E trains.  Their unassuming exterior almost threw me off, but when I caught a glimpse of Kidrobot product, I sensed there was something special about the place.
SHINY SHOPPING BAG :) YAY

Graphic tees with simple art line plastic shelves at the center of the store.  A quirky red heather sweatshirt with a mustache and bowtie screened on the front was my immediate favorite.  From tees to totes to toys, I wanted to buy the whole store, but I did show some restraint.

LOVE!
Here are my amazingly awesome finds. I will return to this store, where the supersoft clever tees are only $20, and the plush hoodies are a friendly $35.  Plus, when I told the shop owner about my blog, he actually seemed interested and enthused!

But don't just take my word for it. Check out this great article about GRAST on freshnessmag.com

Mod about You!

My favorite decade is the 60's. Crisp clean lines, youthful exuberance, and punchy color blocking define Alice and Olivia's current online offering.  I want to buy it all.

This look is so great! Love the dolman sleeved dress.  I'm a big fan of over sized silhouettes. Why? They are not only comfy, but they make me look skinner, yo!

Plus, throw in a pink lawn flamingo and you've just made my weekend!

Patagonia Tin Shed- 50% off "winter jackets"

Patagonia Tin Shed is a pop-up shop that is temporarily on the UWS and UES of Manhattan and down in Soho.   I've been seeing a LOT of people wearing lightweight Patagonia jackets in bright, fun colors (men, women and children of all ages).   With the majority of the store's stock at 50% off, I knew it was worth taking a look around.

I was skeptical of the jackets because they seem too lightweight to keep me warm, but the staff assured me that Patagonia jackets are specially designed to keep you warm without weighing you down.

I bought a lovely short black number with a hood.  So cute, so easy to carry around, and keeps me warm.   I kind of want to pick up another in a bright color like electric blue or berry pink.

Check out Patagonia Tin Shed Concept stores before they close in April!

MXYPLYZYK- Kitchy Tchotchke store. Aka- my new heaven

I was wandering around the West Village on Sunday afternoon and stumbled upon an adorable shop called: MYXPLYZYK (pronounced Mix-ee-pliz-ik)

This store has random oddities that are affordable and useful.  Who says your kitchen tools can't be fun? Or that your office pushpins can't be shaped like swords?  Check out the site /store for yourself for fun, funky takes on ordinary objects.  (Store is on Greenwich Ave at 13th St).

Here are my fave picks:

Slipper Genie: cause you can clean while you are lounging (its the lazy person's dream)

Medieval Pushpins: Cause you mean business!

Seventy Buck Chuck

Customized Converse!  Yeah buddy! I played around on the Converse website for hours last night, making color and pattern combos, glow in the dark options, and multi-tongue numbers, but in the end, I showed some restraint.

I stylized my own Jack Purcells.  Can't wait to rock these!

Some other creations I made but did not dare to order:

Nailed It!

Sally Hansen Salon Effects Real Nail Polish Strips:

They cost $9.99 or less (much cheaper than a Minx manicure at a salon)
They require little to no artistic ability (just peel and stick).
They look like they took a lot of effort.

And most importantly, they are FUN!

I couldn't resist checking out the newest patterns.  My co-worker got the tye dye one.  I dared to try "Tattoo Much".
